Veterinary Technology

Program Overview

Baker College's Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology prepares students to provide nursing care, diagnostic support, and anesthesia administration in veterinary practice. The program is accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association's Committee on Veterinary Technician Education and Activities (AVMA, CVTEA) and totals 63 credit hours, with major coursework delivered on campus and general education courses available online. Curriculum covers laboratory procedures, radiology procedures, pharmacy functions, surgical assistance, and anesthesia maintenance, along with client education and exotic animal care. Graduates pursue licensure as a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) and work as laboratory technicians, radiology technicians, pharmacy technicians, surgical technicians, or anesthesia technicians.
