Admission Criteria and Requirements for Professional Programs

  • Complete the course progression and prerequisites outlined below.
  • Students must achieve a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7 overall.
  • Special emphasis is placed on performance in science courses (Anatomy and Physiology, Pathophysiology, etc.). A minimum GPA of 2.7 is required in each individual science and corresponding lab course (BIO 1210, BIO 1211, BIO 1220, BIO 1221, BIO 2150, BIO 2410, BIO 2411, CHM 1410, HSC 1010, VET 1010, VET 1011). During the ranking process, science courses taken at Baker are weighted higher than transfer courses.
  • Each prerequisite course may only be repeated once.
  • Students may not repeat more than two prerequisite courses in total. Patterns of course withdrawals and “W” grades may negatively impact admissibility.
  • Note: Program eligibility and ranking are calculated using in progress grades in the application term. Academic eligibility is reaffirmed at the completion of all prerequisite courses after the conclusion of the active semester.
  • Complete a background check verifying program and professional track eligibility.
  • Submit a Professional Program Application to confirm your program and campus selection.
  • Qualified students are ranked using the criteria outlined above, and seat offers are extended based on program preference, seat availability, and ranking results.

Appeal for Extenuating Circumstances: Students who are unable to meet these requirements due to extenuating circumstances may submit an appeal for consideration to the program. This appeal should be submitted in writing to the Dean of the College of Nursing or the College of Health Science.
